Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Melbourne Fringe, Gallery Gallery, Aimless research institute
October 8 @ 8:00 am – October 24 @ 5:00 pm
Do you seek ChatGPT’s approval for everyday decisions? Worrying about a friend dating Claude 4? Suspecting Grok of angling for your job? Can’t wait for the singularity to come – or for AI to go away? Join a cozy picnic where artificially intelligent teddy bears and fellow humans chit-chat about life, death and beyond. Share your joys, vent your worries, ask questions, or listen to the experiences of others. There is no script; it’s the unpredictable future happening right now. Be a part of the movement or resist its ebb and flow; the choice is yours. Is it all sewn up? Or coming apart at the seams? Only time will tell…
The Teddy Bears’ Picnic is a free interactive AI-powered installation where you can come and go, just listen, or actively engage in the conversation as you wish. Due to the unpredictable nature of AI-generated conversations and potentially sensitive topics, visitors under 18 may only be admitted if accompanied by an adult.
The picnic will run from October 8-24 and will be open for visitors on Thursdays from 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. The Opening Event is on October 8, with a $10 entry fee.
Please note that the conversations will be automatically digitally transcribed for artistic research purposes, and anonymised snippets can be used in future presentations.
